Overview

The Beta phase of the Product Information Management (PIM) platform builds directly on the outputs of the Alpha phase, particularly the service design artefacts, stakeholder research, and prototype workflows delivered. The key objective of this SOW is to transform those validated Alpha learnings into a fully functioning, user-centred, production-ready digital service. The Beta will incorporate appropriate sign-in options and security controls to ensure safe and reliable access. The end goal is to meet the Government Digital Service (GDS) Beta assessment criteria and prepares for a future public release adhering to the service standard and Technology Code of Practice to deliver a secure, scalable, and user focused digital service. The solution will prioritise the use of open-source code where appropriate to promote transparency, reusability, and cost-effectiveness.

What will be delivered:

  • A functional, scalable PIM Beta platform for NHS and medical device suppliers.
  • Enhanced data submission, validation, and correction workflows.
  • Secure, standards-based APIs for system integrations.
  • Robust user interface aligned with GOV.UK and NHS design principles.
  • Comprehensive user support and onboarding experience.
  • Measurable improvements in data quality, usability, and stakeholder satisfaction.

The service will be co-developed with the client team in a transparent and agile manner, ensuring deep stakeholder engagement, accessibility compliance, and alignment with DHSC infrastructure and technical capabilities to support long-term sustainability for future handover.
