Oldworth is a global executive search boutique operating at the intersection of commerce, leadership and transformation. We advise publicly listed and privately backed businesses across tech-enabled consumer, media, retail, leisure and hospitality sectors. Our work extends well beyond recruitment. We decode leadership potential, distil commercial insight and quietly influence how companies evolve through talent. Our approach is consultative, analytical and deeply human. We are swift but precise, independent in thought and grounded in trust. Our tone is direct, polished, never pompous, and always professional.
The Role
We are looking for a bright and motivated Research Analyst at the start of their career who wants to understand how leadership really works. This is a central role within our research and insight function, where information becomes intelligence, intelligence becomes impact and impact can change share prices, grow businesses and innovate on a global level. You will explore markets, map organisations, identify exceptional individuals and interpret the stories that sit behind commercial structures. Working across multiple live mandates, you will collaborate closely with our founder and gain direct exposure to board-level decision making in a professional, high-trust environment. If you are curious by nature, analytical by instinct and genuinely interested in people and business with a deep appreciation of the confidentiality entrusted in the knowledge we hold, we would love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Search Strategy & Market Mapping: Independently formulate and execute compelling search strategies, capturing market insights to guide each executive search. Conduct rigorous industry and company research to understand client needs, support commercial executive searches and identify target companies, emerging trends and talent pools.
- Data Analysis: Analyse filings, investor materials, media and data sources to understand the commercial forces shaping markets and the people driving them.
- Candidate Identification & Outreach: Identify and approach high-potential candidates through creative research methods and leveraging our proprietary databases. Develop comprehensive reports on potential candidates and target companies, mapping the talent landscape for each assignment for confidential pipelines.
- Collaboration with founder and future consultants: Partner closely with our consultants on search mandates – participate in kick-off meetings and client briefings, contributing insights on target profiles and search strategy. Screen and evaluate candidates alongside consultants to ensure we present the best qualified talent to clients.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication: Prepare polished status reports and candidate profiles for presentation to clients, providing clear insights into each candidate’s fit. Ensure all data (e.g. candidate information, market feedback) is captured accurately in our systems, maintaining the integrity and quality of our research data.
- Business Development Support: Support business development by monitoring market developments and spotting opportunities in our sectors. Conduct background research for pitch materials, client presentations and attend select pitch meetings to provide market insight where appropriate.
- Knowledge & Innovation: Develop deep domain knowledge in our focus industries, staying ahead of trends and sharing actionable market intelligence with the team. Contribute to internal knowledge initiatives and best practices that push our firm forward.
- Ethics & Confidentiality: Uphold the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality and ethics throughout the search process. Represent Oldworth with finesse and credibility in all candidate and client interactions.
Required Qualifications & Traits
- Analytical Curiosity: Ability to digest large amounts of information, identify key insights quickly and synthesize them into clear recommendations. Be intellectually curious with a data-driven mindset, constantly exploring new research tools and techniques. Resourceful self-starter with a can-do attitude.
- Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. You can craft high-quality, well-structured documents for clients and confidently articulate insights to stakeholders at all levels. Excellent listening skills and keen attention to detail are a must.
- Interpersonal Savvy: High emotional intelligence and professionalism, with the ability, confidence or tenacity to interact credibly with CEOs, founders and senior executives. Builds trust and rapport easily with clients, candidates, and colleagues.
- Organised & Proactive: Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines without sacrificing quality. A self-starter who takes initiative, yet knows how to leverage the team for success. Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Tech & Tools: Savvy with research technologies and CRM databases (experience with tools like LinkedIn, CRM platforms, or AI-driven search tools is a plus). Embraces a people-led, data-backed approach, ideally skilled at using data and digital tools to augment human judgment in decision-making.
- Experience & Education: Bachelor’s degree required or at least a significant demonstrable extra-curricular work experience proving commercial tendencies and appetite.
