About the Role:
The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing and managing production schedules to ensure efficient manufacturing operations, optimal resource utilisation, and on-time delivery. The role supports the coordination between engineering, procurement, and shop floor teams to maintain smooth production flow and meet customer demand.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain production schedules in line with customer orders and capacity
- Plan and coordinate manufacturing activities across the shop floor to ensure workflow efficiency
- Monitor daily production performance against plan and address deviations promptly
- Liaise with engineering, procurement, and quality teams to ensure material and technical readiness
- Analyse production data to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
- Ensure effective allocation of labour, machinery, and materials
- Maintain accurate planning data within ERP/MRP systems
- Support inventory control by aligning production plans with stock levels and demand forecasts
- Assist in continuous improvement activities to optimise production processes and reduce waste
Health & Safety:
It is your responsibility to work in a safe manner to promote personal safety and the safety of others to prevent accidents occurring and report all near misses. Move materials safely and carefully using the correct mechanical lifting method. Use the appropriate PPE and ensure it is in good condition, replace when required. Follow the company's Health & Safety Policy at all times.

About you:
Knowledge and Skills:
- Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related field
- Proven experience in a planning or production control role within manufacturing
- Experience working in a shop floor environment
- Knowledge of production planning systems (MRP/ERP)
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement techniques desirable
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production workflows
- Excellent planning, organisational, and prioritisation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Attention to detail and accuracy in scheduling
- Effective communication with cross-functional teams and shop floor personnel
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
- Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel
