Working within the alternative provision taskforce, to undertake intensive casework support for children and their families. The focus of the job is to work in partnership with families who are experiencing challenging circumstances, in order to achieve positive outcomes and lasting change for the whole family. There is responsibility for holding cases and ensuring coordinated support of other relevant agencies, including developing multi-agency support plans for families. Using strength-based creative approaches, the post holder builds trusting relationships with families that enable challenge and support; they help build resilience, self-reliance, and improve family life and children’s outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an allocated caseload of families with multiple and complex needs.
  • Lead professional: chair multi-agency teams around family meetings and coordinate development and delivery of multi-agency support plans addressing assessed needs and risks.
  • Participate in other multi-agency meetings relating to children and families, including those organised as part of social care processes.
  • Carry out assessments in partnership with family members to identify unique strengths, assets and challenges, and analyse this to create a plan of work.

Key Requirements

  • Substantial experience supporting children and families with complex lives, including mental health, offending, substance misuse and domestic abuse.
  • Substantial experience using assessment tools to analyse family dynamics and inform bespoke plans and appropriate interventions based on evidence.
  • Experience working with households that have historically been resistant or reliant on services and supporting them to achieve positive change.
