Role Overview

Working within the council’s Street Lighting Service, you will help manage and monitor the performance of our Lighting Service Provider for Oldham and Rochdale Councils in line with our Private Finance Initiative (PFI) contractual requirements. You will undertake street lighting designs in accordance with relevant national and contractual standards and carry out inspections during site installation works.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor performance of the Lighting Service Provider and contractors
  • Ensure work is carried out in accordance with IEE Regulations, Health and Safety and other contractual requirements
  • Prepare and review detailed lighting designs, specifications, drawings, estimates in accordance with lighting standards and contractual requirements
  • Responsible for issuing and monitoring contractual change notices by the Service Provider including expenditure against contractual costs
  • Responsible for undertaking inspections, recording outcomes, final measures, providing technical advice and completing Accrual and De-Accruals to and from the service

Key Requirements

  • The ability and experience to analyse and interpret street lighting management information systems to effectively monitor and manage delivery of the street lighting services
  • The ability and experience to provide street lighting designs in accordance with relevant national and contractual standards
  • Excellent organisational skills to liaise with the Lighting Service Provider and other contractors (including seasonal decorations) to agree work programmes, fault repairs and deadlines to ensure smooth operation of street lighting services in Oldham and Rochdale
