This is an exciting opportunity to join the Finance Service on a permanent basis to help support the way services are delivered in Oldham. The post will be that of a Senior Accountant supporting the Finance Manager in the provision of financial advice and guidance to the organisation including budget setting/monitoring, challenge and assurance functions to both internal and external stakeholders and completion of statutory returns. There are four roles available within the service, and these will support one of the following teams: Adults Social Care, Treasury and Taxation, Schools or Housing including HRA.
Responsibilities
- Supporting the Council's budget setting process
- Production of monthly monitoring information and reports
- Liaising with stakeholders both internal and external on a range of financial issues
- Completion of statutory returns for council services
- Supporting the accounts closure process
Key Requirements
- Analyse and interpret data and present it effectively to various audiences to inform decision-making.
- Communicate effectively and be confident to challenge when advising and supporting senior officers.
- Ability to complete statutory returns in line with guidance in an accurate and timely manner.
