Buckstones Primary School is a popular successful Community primary school within Oldham Local Authority serving the local community of Shaw and its surrounding areas. The school benefits from having great transport links with both the motorway and tram network close by. Whilst we are not an ethnically diverse school, we are an inclusive school with an established staff team and an active, supportive Governing Body. We offer pupils and families an ambitious curriculum.

The Governors are seeking to appoint a new Head Teacher who will continue to work in conjunction with the Governing Body to develop all aspects of the school, with an emphasis on high quality teaching and learning, maintaining excellent pupil outcomes and ensuring that the school remains inclusive and supportive of all members of its community. The Headteacher is a role model who will inspire and motivate the children and lead a committed staff team. The role presents a unique opportunity to lead the school through the next stage of its development.

The ideal candidate will:

  • be an inspirational leader and manager, who can articulate a clear vision for the school;
  • inspire all members of the school community to flourish in their roles ensuring that Buckstones Primary School continues to be a warm, friendly, and fully inclusive school with learning at its heart;
  • be approachable, reflective, forward thinking, have high expectations and the ability to deliver positive outcomes for our children;
  • have the ability to develop strong relationships with parents, governors, external agencies and the wider community;
  • have had recent proven, successful experience in leading on a whole school initiative. This is likely to have been as a member of a school senior leadership team;
  • have a record of successfully implementing initiatives to raise standards;
  • have experience of analysing and using school performance data to inform targeted interventions;
  • have the ability to understand the importance of school self-evaluation and the latest Ofsted inspection process;
  • demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • understand all aspects of Safeguarding and have had relevant experience and training;
  • have knowledge of roles and responsibilities with regard to Health and Safety;
  • be familiar with school budgets and funding streams.
