Emergency & Dyslexia Behavioural Support are existing for families that require a supportive environment for our children, and the requirement for a Deputy Manager is based on ensuring a high standard, caring and supportive environment for our children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all regulation frameworks the home falls within and understand OFSTED requirements.
  • Leadership and supervision: Assist the Registered Manager in management and supervision of residential care staff, promoting continuous improvement and excellence.
  • Care planning: Develop, implement and monitor individual care plans for children.
  • Regulatory compliance: Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, policies and best practice guidelines.
  • Support and mentorship: Provide guidance, mentoring and support to the care team to enhance their skills.
  • Crisis management: Handle and resolve critical situations or incidents to ensure safety and well-being.
  • Stakeholder collaboration: Work closely with outside agencies, schools, health providers and families to provide holistic and integrated care.
  • Administrative duties: Oversee rostering, budgeting and accurate record keeping.

Key Requirements

  • Experience delivering life skills and/or participation programmes to young people.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with children and young people.
  • Attention to detail ensuring correct information is recorded, kept up to date and organised.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People’s Workforce or equivalent; Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care desirable.
  • Preferred experience in a supervisory or management role within a residential care setting for children, preferably those with EBD but not essential.
  • Strong communication, leadership and organisational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • In-depth understanding of complexities associated with EBD and familiarity with relevant legislation and standards.
  • Current enhanced DBS check or willingness to undergo one.
  • Capability to work within a collaborative team providing supervision and support.
