Job Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out all aspects of Housing Regulation in accordance with legislation, including Licensing HMOs, handling private sector housing disrepair complaints, and enforcement against landlords non-compliant with the Selective Licensing Scheme.
  2. Collaborate with the Council\'s partner agencies, residents, contractors, landlords, agents, Councillors, and Leadership as required.
  3. Support the Environmental Health Manager and Assistant Environmental Health Manager on housing-related issues within the department\'s work programme.
  4. Deliver an effective Housing Enforcement service, including HMO licensing and enforcement actions against non-compliant landlords.
  5. Conduct detailed inspections of properties under the Housing Act 2004 to ensure compliance with legal and licensing requirements and oversee timely rectification.
  6. Provide technical advice to contractors, license holders, and colleagues regarding property defaults and appropriate rectification measures, making referrals as necessary.
  7. Engage with tenants, including vulnerable and hard-to-engage groups, to address issues affecting their lives and refer them to other agencies for support.
