A fantastic opportunity has arisen to lead the Environmental Health teams here in Oldham as part of the Public Protection service. You will provide leadership and management in all aspects of Environmental Health across the Borough helping to protect residents, businesses and the environment within Oldham, as well as people who work here or visit the Borough.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the service, find practical solutions and decide how to deliver the service's objectives.
- Be responsible for the formulation and implementation of policies and service plans reflecting the needs of and demands on the Environmental Health section of the Public Protection Service and oversee the implementation of such policies.
- Contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the Public Protection Service, including managing and allocating workloads; project management; and the use and monitoring of resources, ensuring the proper performance of all duties imposed upon the Service by statute or by instruction of the Council.
- Be responsible for authorising spend from significant budgets and assisting with the budget setting process. Monitor the budgets and advise senior management of budget issues and demonstrate value for money service(s) delivery.

- Think creatively through issues and problems through the use of theoretical, conceptual and technical knowledge to find practical solutions.
- Use your experience of writing, reviewing and updating policies, procedures and guidance (proactive and reactive) relating to all aspects of the service.
- A proven record of establishing a positive performance culture that has delivered effective performance and continuous service improvement.
