Apprentice Public Health Practitioner

Responsibilities

• Supporting the work of the Public Health Team in working across the Council, other public, voluntary and private sector organisations in Oldham to develop and deliver plans, policies and strategies to improve health and reduce health inequalities.
• Assisting members of the Public Health Team to plan, design and put in place public health services, and monitor their impact.
• To work towards being able to undertake analysis of data to describe the health of the population and produce written reports to describe key public health issues and work being proposed or undertaken.
• You may be asked to speak to, deliver presentations and engage with residents, community groups, officers in other teams within the Council or in other organisations, about a range of public health topics.
  Good literacy and numeracy skills.

• Able to meet the entry requirements for the University of Salford Public Health Practitioner degree apprenticeship BSc (Hons). This includes (but not limited to) L2 Maths and English, certificates will need to be available at Interview.
• You must not already have a degree in Public Health.
• Be available to attend the University induction session 12th January 2026, and teaching sessions every Monday, commencing 19th January 2026.
