Role Overview

As a Maintenance Operative, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our buildings and equipment are well-maintained, safe, and compliant with relevant regulations. You will work closely with the Facilities Management team and other departments to carry out a variety of maintenance tasks, helping to create a comfortable and secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and reactive maintenance tasks across our healthcare and residential facilities, including plumbing, electrical repairs, carpentry, and general upkeep.
  • Inspect and test building systems and equipment to identify faults or potential issues, ensuring timely repairs or escalation as needed.
  • Assist with the coordination of external contractors and suppliers, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including logs, reports, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety regulations and organisational policies.
  • Support the Facilities Management team in managing inventory of tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies.
  • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests to minimise disruption to services and ensure safety.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance operations.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in a maintenance or facilities operative role, preferably within Health, Nursing & Social Care or Facilities Management environments.
  • Good practical skills across a range of maintenance disciplines including basic plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, and general repairs.
  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices relevant to maintenance work.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively and prioritising tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Good communication skills and a friendly, approachable manner.
  • Willingness to undertake training and development relevant to the role.
  • Valid UK driving licence is desirable.
