The Childrenâs Social Workservice in Manchester has a key role in delivery of high-quality support to people who use services, and those who care for them. The Staying Put Support role is important role in supporting a young person who decides to continue to live with their foster carers when they reach the age of 18 years and they can continue to reside with them till the age 21 or 25 if they are in higher education.
The Staying Put providers play a pivotal role in providing support and guidance to young people so that they can develop their independent living skills. If you share Manchesterâs clear ambitions in delivering high quality services and able to provide high quality support to the Staying Put providers, we want to hear from you.
The job role involves being responsible for holding a caseload of Staying Put providers, working in partnership with the Social Workers, Personal Advisers, attending LAC Reviews, planning meetings, providing supervision to the providers, ensuring health and safety standards for the accommodation, supporting the providers with appropriate financial support, direct work with young people and ensuring young people are provided with high quality support so that they can successfully transition into adult life when they leave the placement.
If youâre successful youâll join a team of dedicated Staying Put Support Workers who are pushing forward a high standard of support for young people to promote their independence and advocate their decisions, views, and choices within their agreed pathway planning whilst ensuring high level of support is offered to the Staying Put providers.
The Staying Put Support Worker role sits within the Sixteen Plus Pathway Services based at Etrop Court, Wythenshawe, M22 5RG but agile working is available including the Beehive, 40, Seymour Road, M8 5BR.

About the Candidate
Essential requirements for the role:
- Level 3 Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
- Experience of supporting Staying Put providers or foster carers.
- Experience of working with Young Care Leavers and a good understanding of the young people\\\âs independence living issues and pathway planning.
- Strong communication skills and being able to develop positive relationships with the Staying Put providers demonstrating active listening, empathy and an understanding of adult learning.
- Skilled in being able to manage a caseload consisting of providers.
- Skilled in mediation and conflict situations.
- Skilled in partnership work to include work with Local Authority Social Workers, Leaving Care Workers, and Independent Fostering Agency SSW.
- Skilled in being able to write reports and effective case recording.
- Be organised, manage time well and be able to work occasionally late evenings.
- Be able to use Microsoft Office packages.
- Have a full driving licence and be able to drive a car.
- The experience below would be beneficial but is not essential:
Desirable requirements that would be useful in this role:
- Experience of direct work within Fostering Service.
- Experience of supervising the placements and being able to undertake supervision and quality assurance of the placement.
- Degree level qualification e.g. Social Work, Teaching, Health and Social Care, Nursing or equivalent.
