North Ridge is an Outstanding specialist high school for pupils with persistent and complex special educational needs, aged 11-19 years. The school operates across two sites, including a 6th Form Hub in Cheetham Hill. The ethos is positive, caring and teamwork‑oriented.
About the Candidate
The successful applicant will have experience teaching pupils with a range of learning disabilities and associated needs, with a particular emphasis on experience with pupils with very severe learning difficulties (PMLD). They will be enthusiastic, hardworking and committed to the school motto of "do your best".
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead teaching within own class or small group, using a primary‑school model.
- Design and deliver dynamic, hands‑on, imaginative lessons and apply a spiral curriculum that builds and reinforces knowledge through repetition and exploration.
- Take on the role of curriculum coordinator if not an Early Career Teacher, leading whole‑school development in a subject area.
- Collaborate with experienced colleagues, contribute to staff development and training programmes, and maintain high professional standards.
- Support pupils in developing social and life skills to become confident, independent young adults and active community members.
Qualifications
- Qualified Teacher Status.
- Experience working with pupils with learning disabilities, especially PMLD.
