The Disability Supported Accommodation Service (DSAS) is a citywide network of housing with support and respite services for adults aged 18+ with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs, individuals with a physical disability, adults who are sensory impaired or have an acquired brain injury. It is a 24/7 provision and candidates will need to be willing to work on a rota to cover days, evenings and weekends. The Service aims to make a positive difference to the lives of individuals with disabilities by offering person‑centred support and care, as well as quality housing, because every individual has the right to achieve their full potential, regardless of disability.
About the Candidate
Working as part of a dedicated Mobile Support Team, you will provide support to disabled adults with their day‑to‑day needs within their own home, which may be within a permanent supported living environment or the Short Breaks service. You will play an active part in the continuous development of Assistant Support Workers and Waking Night Support Workers through one‑on‑one mentoring and observations. You will also assist in the provision of practical and emotional support to citizens that will promote independence and will assist and support other involved parties, to ensure positive outcomes for all customers. Your role will include administering medication, assisting with all aspects of personal care and daily living including meal planning and preparation, accessing the local community for shopping and activities and support during medical appointments. This post requires an NVQ Health & Social Care Level 3 (or equivalent), or be willing to work towards Level 3. This role is for a Mobile Support Team; the location of the shifts may change daily, weekly or monthly depending on availability. The candidate will be required to work flexibly and around the city.
