This full‑time, permanent position is within Manchester City Council’s Building Control Service. The role requires 35 hours of work per week and includes a market‑rate supplement of £8,000 per annum, a monthly essential‑user car allowance, and a range of other benefits. Responsibilities
- Ensure buildings comply with all building safety legislation and council policies.
- Contribute to the council’s resilience strategy by managing high‑profile construction projects such as arenas, sports stadia, high‑rise buildings, housing schemes, shopping centres, hospitals, and an airport.
- Maintain accurate records, conduct inspections, and provide expert advice to developers, contractors and the council.
- Collaborate with other council teams to promote sustainability, inclusivity, and accessibility in new developments.
Qualifications & Experience
- Registered with the Building Safety Regulator as a Class 2A‑F Building Inspector.
- Membership of a recognised building‑control body (e.g. RICS, CABE, CIOB or equivalent).
- Relevant building‑control knowledge and demonstrated experience within a local authority or registered building‑control approver.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Strong communication, analytical, problem‑solving, ICT, financial, commercial and people‑management skills.
