North Ridge is an Outstanding specialist high school for pupils with persistent and complex special educational needs, aged 11-19 years. The school is fast developing and split across two sites, incorporating a range of student‑led businesses, located at the 6th Form Hub in Cheetham Hill. We seek to appoint a dynamic and hardworking individual who will live up to our school motto of "do your best". The suitable candidate will teach pupils with a range of learning disabilities and associated needs. About the Candidate

You will lead your own class or a small group of classes (similar to a primary school model) tailored to your unique strengths and passions. Your students range from Early Years to Year 3, and your teaching will be dynamic, hands‑on, and imaginative. Bring learning to life through active, practical lessons delivered via a spiral curriculum that builds and reinforces knowledge through repetition and exploration.

If you are not an Early Career Teacher (ECT), you will also take on the exciting challenge of being a curriculum coordinator—leading whole‑school development in a subject area. You’ll be supported by a team of experienced, enthusiastic professionals and benefit from our staff development and training programme designed to help you flourish. You’ll play a vital role in helping our pupils grow into confident young adults, being as independent as possible depending on their needs. You will equip them with the social and life skills they need to thrive in their communities. At the heart of your work will be a commitment to nurturing each child’s individuality and zest for life.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage your own class or small group of classes.
• Design and deliver dynamic, hands‑on, imaginative teaching for students from Early Years to Year 3.
• Implement a spiral curriculum to reinforce knowledge through repetition and exploration.
• Coordinate curriculum development as a whole‑school curriculum coordinator if not ECT.
• Support and collaborate with a team of experienced professionals.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QT)
• 1 SEN point (Candidates on UPS will be considered)
• Experience teaching pupils with complex special educational needs (preferred)
• Willingness to take on curriculum coordination duties (if not ECT)
