Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.
We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Capital Programmes Major Works Team as a Project Manager. The Major Works Team is part of the Capital Programme Division which is responsible for developing and delivering capital construction programmes and projects varying size and cost across the city. The current value of the programme is £200m pa. Of this total, the Major Works Team is responsible for delivering large schemes valued at around £110m per annum.
The Project Manager will manage the contractors and design team resources involved in the delivery of large-scale construction projects and the management and successful delivery of projects on time, to budget and quality. The role will also manage the procurement process, ensuring that all stages including pre-qualification, enquiry, analysis, selection, and contract preparation are performed effectively. Regular reporting to keep the Programme Boards and key stakeholders informed will be a key requirement of the role along with the management of project risk through effective analysis, mitigation, and contingency planning. The role will support the delivery team by ensuring that all project requirements are fully defined and managed.
About the Candidate
The successful candidates will have excellent communication, problem solving & decision making, financial and people management skills. You will also be commercially aware. These skills will be underpinned by an HNC or BSc/MSc in a construction related or project management discipline combined with experience of project managing the delivery of capital construction projects in a construction project environment using a structured project management methodology. You will therefore have demonstrable knowledge of the construction industry and the Construction and Design Management 2015 Regulations. Knowledge of construction contracts is also required along with an awareness and understanding of building and planning legislation. In terms of professional development, you will also be working towards or hold membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g. Association for Project Management, Chartered Institute of Building, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
