The City Centre Growth and Infrastructure Team provide the essential focus and drive in the delivery of a wide range of projects and initiatives that support the regeneration and ongoing growth of the city centre. The team’s work includes driving forward the regeneration of the areas surrounding the city’s main railway stations, in particular a strategically important area around, and leading out from, Piccadilly station. The arrival of Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) into Manchester will be the catalyst for a once-in-a-century opportunity to transform the existing station at Manchester Piccadilly and regenerate the eastern side of the city centre, as well as capitalising on the economic growth at Manchester Airport and its surrounding developments. Manchester Piccadilly is one of the largest regeneration opportunities in the UK. At a key gateway to the city centre, the growth opportunity in this location could be comparable in scale and impact to major UK and international regeneration schemes such as London’s King’s Cross, Antwerp Station and Hudson Yards, New York. We are looking for someone to help us to plan for, and deliver, the regeneration and growth opportunities at Manchester Piccadilly and other regeneration areas around our central railway stations.

About the Candidate

We would love to hear from you if you have:

  • a strong record of partnership working with the public and private sector;
  • successfully managing a range of regeneration projects to deliver outcomes;
  • working to tight deadlines; and
  • excellent communication skills.

You would also have the ability to work with senior managers and Members; and to understand, assimilate and communicate complex information, including excellent report‑writing skills and the ability to research information and present in a short timescale.
