We are looking for an excellent teaching assistant to join our TA team. This post would be particularly suitable for someone with a degree or with existing TA experience. Experience of working with children, degree or Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification (or equivalent); excellent numeracy and literacy skills are essential, as well as good communication skills and the ability to relate to people. Applications from graduates without a teaching assistant qualification will be considered. This role would be particularly suitable for a graduate looking to gain experience prior to starting teacher training or an ECT.

About the Candidate

  • Experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant age
  • Numeracy/literacy skills (at a level equivalent to NQF Level 2)
  • Completion of the Teaching Assistant Induction Programme
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • An understanding of the role of the Teaching Assistant and other professionals working in the classroom
  • Ability to use relevant technology eg photocopier
  • Understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies
  • Basic understanding of child development and learning
  • willingness to undertake minor first aid training as appropriate
