Are you seeking work experience at one of the leading accountancy firms in the South West? We know that choosing a career is a big decision, and sometimes the best way to figure it out is by experiencing it first-hand. We occasionally offer work experience placements for people who are curious about the world of accountancy, finance, and business. It’s a great opportunity to spend time in one of our offices, meet our teams, and get a genuine feel for the work we do. We have offices across Exeter, Yeovil, Wells, and Chippenham.
What you’ll experience
During your time with us, you’ll see what life as an accountant really looks like, beyond the spreadsheets and calculators. You’ll learn how our teams support clients, help businesses grow, and solve real challenges for people every day. You might sit in on meetings, observe how client work is managed, help with simple administrative tasks, or get involved in team discussions. The aim isn’t to test you, but to give you a realistic insight into how accountancy fits into the wider world of business, and to help you decide whether it’s a path you’d like to pursue. Along the way, you’ll also have the chance to chat with our trainees and qualified accountants, ask questions about their routes into the profession, and learn about the different career paths within Old Mill from audit and tax to financial planning and business advisory.
Who it’s for
We welcome applications from anyone curious about accountancy, whether you’re a student exploring your options, a recent graduate, or someone considering a career change. We’re keen to hear from people who might not have had exposure to the world of accountancy practice before. Diversity of thought, background, and experience makes our business stronger, and we want everyone to feel that this could be a place for them.
How it works
We can’t offer a space to everyone who applies, but we recognise the value that work experience brings to both parties, and review every request carefully. If we have a suitable opportunity, we’ll get in touch to discuss the next steps.
