The Old Cock Inn is a delightful pub & restaurant in the heart of Harpenden, offering guests the added benefit of six boutique bedrooms. We have a stylish and cosy restaurant, a relaxed and informal bar area with a roaring log fire for the colder months, and our lovely terrace garden at the back. We’re what you might call a ‘proper pub’ serving a selection of real ales and craft beers, alongside an extensive wine, gin and spirit list.

Your role as Assistant Manager:

  • Supporting the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the site in accordance with established company standards, policies and procedures.
  • Motivating and inspiring your team through a genuine passion for hospitality.
  • Ongoing training and development of the team.
  • Driving sales by maintaining excellent standards and exceeding customer expectations.
  • Maintain front of house standards and drive excellence in food, hotel, service and drink quality.
  • Adhere to all legislative requirements for people, safety, and licensing.
  • Conduct regular stock counts and compare to usage reports including waste records to identify opportunities for tighter control.

Requirements:

  • The ability to deliver excellent customer service and great teamwork in a fast-paced and pressurised environment.
  • Energy and motivation to successfully lead and inspire your team.
  • Self-motivation with excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in a management or leadership role within the hospitality industry – essential.
  • Passion for the industry and the challenges that come with it.
