We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Business and Services Architect to join our EMEA Professional Services team. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between our solutions and customer needs, ensuring that our offerings align with business objectives and technical requirements. This role requires a balance of business acumen and technical expertise, allowing you to craft compelling solutions that address complex business challenges. You will play a key role in shaping client strategies and ensuring seamless transitions from sales to execution. This is a hybrid role where the individual will be responsible for a mix of billable and non-billable work. Approximately 70% of the role will focus on non-billable activities such as supporting services sales and related internal initiatives, while the remaining 30% will involve direct billable work supporting clients or projects.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Business Architecture: Supports the Professional Services Sales team in helping customers understand what they can achieve with Okta and Auth0 platforms. Digests customer requirements and articulates the business value of solving business problems using cloud technology. Owns business architecture workshops and leads customer discussions that will transform customer’s digital experiences, IT infrastructure, and security posture. Crafts collaborative, engaging workshop material that synthesizes known customer experiences and sequences what is possible with Okta. Understands how to architect an optimal user experience and how it is influenced by business process & technology. Collaborates effectively with partners (GSIs & boutique firms) in a shared vision of delivering success to Okta customers. Collaborates with the Professional Services Account Executives (SAEs) on developing and presenting tailored professional services proposals (i.e. statements of work). Captures key insights learned from the field and seeks to continuously evolve delivery frameworks and models. Contributes to thought leadership (articles, whitepapers, blogs) that increases Okta Professional Services’ content capital. Partner closely with the Services Account Executives (SAEs) to drive professional services sales, ensuring alignment between customer needs and service offerings. Engage with customers to understand their needs, business challenges, technical requirements, and strategic goals, identifying opportunities to position professional services as a key enabler of success. Collaborate with the SAEs on developing and presenting tailored professional services proposals (i.e. statements of work). Assist in scoping and estimating project efforts, ensuring feasibility, contingency and alignment with delivery capabilities. Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance to customers throughout the services sales cycle, helping to articulate the business value of professional services engagements. Support customer relationship management efforts by identifying opportunities for upsell and expansion of professional services.
- Professional Services Architecture: Partner with delivery teams to ensure seamless transition from services sales to implementation. Support customers during solution deployment, ensuring alignment with initial design. Devise, document and present target architecture in the design phase and assure adherence to the architecture in the build phase. Adhere to and co-evolve standard Okta Professional Services Methodology. Act as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring customer success and satisfaction. Provide ongoing support and thought leadership to drive continuous improvement and client satisfaction. Troubleshoot and resolve complex business and technical challenges during solution adoption.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 8+ years of experience in pre-sales, solutions architecture or consulting within professional services.
- Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, cloud technologies, security frameworks and integration strategies.
- A passion to advocate for the customer, which has been expressed through previous functional or technical delivery & customer-facing roles, such as technology consulting.
- Ability to build trusted relationships required to be successful in a customer environment.
- An elite writer, facilitator, and storyteller to the entire spectrum of customer audiences (from individual contributors to business stakeholders to executive leadership).
- A quick learner who requires minimal (but reasonable) preparation time to speak with confidence about a customer sales or delivery scenario.
- Able to set clear delivery expectations and meet commitments with minimal revision.
- Positively influence and operate effectively within the traditional context of a software delivery lifecycle project - adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Experience working both independently and in large-scale, matrixed-team environments.
- Exercises a problem solving mindset and mature judgment to prioritize work & effort that will inform customers’ future-state identity investment roadmap.
- Well versed in user experience & business process optimization.
- Discover and explore overall business architecture through persona definitions and journey maps to quantify Identity Solutions and inform technical design.
- Ability to work with technical team members as well as functional team members on delivery projects & programs.
- An expert in core SaaS principles.
- Experience with technologies and protocols to support identity federation and robust access control models (e.g., OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML 2.0, WS-Federation).
- An understanding of core security concerns within a typical application (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, XSRF).
- Coach and mentor more junior team members as necessary on projects & programs.
- Typically 25% travel, presence in London office 2/3 times per week.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or a comparable field is preferred.
- CISSP, CCSP, CISM or an IAM-related certification is a plus.
