Working Pattern: Permanent / Full Time

As the Lead Control & Instrumentation Designer (C&I), you will:

  • Have great safety awareness and culture in all modifications involved.
  • Provide ownership, input, and guidance in the fundamentals of Control and Instrumentation design.
  • Be technically competent in your discipline and actively maintain your competence according to standards and pursue continuous professional development.
  • Have experience in producing, checking, and approving deliverables that conform to all applicable industry engineering codes and standards as well as the client’s policies and procedures related to the equipment being specified. A sound knowledge of relevant commonly used codes is therefore required.
  • Have the understanding and ability to interpret system Process and Instrument Diagrams, fabrication drawings, and schematics.
  • Lead a team of designers and coordinate work tasks to achieve required plan dates or be a senior/principal engineer looking for a step up in their career.

About You

You’ll have experience of:

  • On/offshore FEED and detailed design Control and Instrumentation surveys and sourcing technical understanding. (Preferred but not essential)
  • Control and Instrumentation design experience (Oil & Gas preferred but not essential) in delivery of Control and Instrumentation projects.
  • Typical software packages used for Control and Instrumentation engineering design: AUTOCAD (and RasterCAD)/MicroStation/Bluebeam.
  • Producing, checking, and approving design deliverables: Block Diagrams, Loop Diagrams, Termination Diagrams, Interconnection Diagrams, C&Es, Layout Diagrams, Cable Schedules, Hook-Up Diagrams, Material Requests, Reports. Demonstrable experience and knowledge in Field Instrument cabling particularly: Control valves, Shutdown Valves, Pressure Safety Valves, Flowmeters, Pressure Transmitters, Temperature Transmitters, Level Transmitters, Switches, F&G Detectors. Demonstrable experience and knowledge in Control system modification, particularly on the wiring interfaces between field instruments and between systems: DCS/PCS/ESD/PSD/PSS/F&G/HIPPS/Metering/UCPs.
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge in vendor liaison of all the systems vendors noted above.
  • Offshore and onshore oil & gas business but similar transferable industry skills will also be considered in lieu of specific O&G experience.
  • CE/ATEX and UKCA knowledge is essential.
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge in Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality systems.

  • HND in relevant engineering discipline / HNC in relevant engineering discipline
  • Conversant in most common Microsoft Office applications
  • Having offshore BOSIET, MIST, and medical are preferred for the role with experience of site surveys.
