AI & Robotics Software Engineer – Greenfield Projects | Remote (UK-based)
About the Company
Join a rapidly growing AI robotics company that’s redefining automation in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. About two years into their journey, the team has developed a flagship robotic arm used in cutting-edge lab environments — and now they’re expanding their software and AI capabilities to take the product to the next level.
You’ll be joining at a pivotal stage as they move from early prototypes to production-ready systems. Expect to work across the full stack of robotics software — from control logic to cloud orchestration — and see your code power real, physical robots.
The Opportunity
This role sits at the intersection of AI, robotics, and full-stack software engineering. You’ll be building out core systems that enable intelligent control, simulation, and orchestration of robotic arms used in live chemical manufacturing settings. The work is greenfield and highly varied — ideal for engineers who love problem-solving, experimenting, and bringing ideas to life from concept through to real-world deployment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Designing and building Python-based robot control systems.
- Developing TypeScript backends for orchestration and user interfaces.
- Building simulation and testing environments to run virtual experiments on robotic systems.
- Packaging and deploying software to client robots and internal systems.
- Collaborating closely with hardware engineers and AI specialists to integrate control, sensing, and cloud components.
- Helping stabilise and scale systems for external release later this year.
Tech Stack & Skills
- Languages: Python (core control logic), TypeScript (backend/orchestration), some exposure to C++ is a plus.
- Domains: Robotics, AI/ML integration, backend and full-stack software.
- Frameworks: Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar robotic frameworks is advantageous.
- Mindset: Logical, adaptable, and excited by complex technical challenges across multiple layers of software.
You’ll Thrive Here If You...
- Enjoy variety and cross-functional problem solving.
- Want to see your work have real-world, physical impact.
- Are comfortable jumping between low-level control code and high-level product systems.
- Have an interest in robotics, automation, or intelligent systems.
- Value ownership, visibility, and learning from a talented, close-knit team.
What’s On Offer
- Remote-first setup (UK-based) with occasional in-person team sessions.
- Direct exposure to robotics, AI, and cloud-scale software development.
- Equity potential as part of long-term incentives.
- Chance to grow alongside a pioneering company at the frontier of intelligent automation.
Interview Process
- Technical Interview: Coding & logic exercise (Python or TypeScript).
- Problem-Solving & Culture Fit: Conversation with the leadership team.
- Final Discussion: HR and offer stage.
Note: Sponsorship not available. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.
