Ohme has been selling its chargers to consumers since mid 2019 and has had exponential growth since. We are now operating in multiple countries and have partnerships with the likes of VW, Mercedes, Octopus Energy, and other innovative brands. Why this role exists
Ohme is rapidly expanding our participation in the Energy sector through our EV charging points. We’re looking for a Trading Analyst who has early experience in energy trading but now wants to work on the most exciting and innovative topics in the sector. You’ll be a critical part of our trading team for Ohme’s Flexibility portfolio – turning market data into trading decisions and continuously improving our data capture and reliability. Working Pattern: Central London office‑based, 4 days per week in office. A weekend rota is in place across the team, requiring a few hours of cover on a rotating schedule. Reasonable adjustments considered where needed.
What you’ll do day to day:
- Design trading decisions by reviewing market insights and our own energy volume availability.
- Execute trading decisions via exchange platforms whilst mitigating against potential errors in our system.
- Work with operations teams to deliver on our traded position through our EV charging points.
- Complete analysis of our trading data to design new strategies and unlock additional sources of value.
- Support our applications into market auctions (incl. pre‑qualification, auction prep, portfolio admin).
- Learn (with support) how to use user‑friendly AI tools to improve your own daily and team‑wide workflows.
- Weekend trading coverage on rota basis (few hours on Saturday or Sunday) after training, adjustment made to weekday hours accordingly.
What you’ll learn:
- How UK electricity markets are evolving for flexible assets (balancing mechanism, intraday and Capacity Market).
- How trading decisions translate into real‑world asset behaviour and drive overall business behaviour.
- How to work cross‑functionally with commercial, product, tech and regulatory teams.
- How to use data and automation tools to improve operational performance.
Who you are:
- Solid grounding in GB markets operations and its constituent markets (wholesale, balancing mechanism, etc.).
- Comfortable making material trading decisions with clear written records and approvals.
- Familiarity with risk concepts (e.g. capture vs benchmark, imbalance exposure) and compliance expectations.
- Problem solving mindset who can work through unstructured problems and deliver structured insights.
- Comfort working with data and performing analytics to review and improve trading performance.
- Collaborative with different members of the team both sideways and upwards.
