Ohme is on a mission to accelerate the global transition to clean, affordable energy. We do that by serving as an integrated hardware and software smart-grid platform, focused on the residential EV charging market. The worlds of energy, transport and artificial intelligence are colliding and Ohme is at the heart of this new era. By using technology and data integrations to connect cars, chargers, people, energy providers and more, Ohme has a powerful platform that puts the consumer at the core. Ohme has been selling its chargers to consumers since mid 2019 and has had exponential growth since. We are now operating in multiple countries and have partnerships with the likes of VW, Mercedes, Octopus Energy, and other innovative brands. We are scaling up the business and are building out the team for rapid growth.
Ohme's Grid Flex team is responsible for building the software that enables us to participate directly in renewable energy markets. By aggregating and intelligently dispatching the flexibility of our growing network of connected chargers, the team shifts demand, trades energy flexibility, and is paving the way for vehicle-to-grid. National grids face increasing volatility as renewable generation grows, and Ohme's connected charger network is a significant flexible asset within that landscape.
We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to join the Grid Flex team as a hands-on technical contributor. You will take ownership of the front end application stack, built on a modern Next.js foundation, while also contributing to the Kotlin backend that powers our trading platform. This is a role for someone who brings a full-stack perspective and takes pride in building interfaces that are fast, accessible, and maintainable.
Responsibilities- Take ownership of front end applications built on a Next.js foundation, influencing architecture, driving quality, and evolving the product over time.
- Contribute to the Kotlin backend that powers the trading platform, bringing a full-stack perspective to how data flows from market to UI.
- Collaborate directly with product managers, engineers, and trading operations staff to understand the domain and build tools that work for the people using them.
- Raise the bar through code reviews, thoughtful architecture input, and being an engineer others learn from.
- Apply AI tools responsibly to identify where they genuinely improve design, development, and testing.
- Stay curious about the energy and flexibility markets the team operates in and bring that understanding into your work.
- Live our values: Customer Obsessed, Collaboration, Progressive, Brave, Do Good.
- Be a team player with creative opinions, focused on driving solutions.
- Always look forward and learn from mistakes.
- You care about the craft. Code reviews, architecture decisions, and team standards matter to you.
- You work well with product managers, domain experts, and engineers across disciplines, and you communicate clearly about trade-offs.
- You take the time to understand why you are building something, including the energy markets and flexibility concepts that underpin this product.
- You know where AI tools add value in a development workflow and where they do not.
- Proven professional experience (5 years+) with TypeScript and React or Next.js in production environments.
- Experience contributing to backend services; Kotlin experience is a plus, or strong willingness to learn.
- Track record of owning front end architecture in a fast-moving product team.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and CI/CD practices.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to work effectively across engineering, product, and operations.
- An interest in clean energy, flexibility markets, or grid technology is a bonus.
You’ll get to work in a fast-paced and rapidly growing scale-up with global ambitions that is cutting edge, passionate about sustainability and seeks to make the world a better place.
Benefits- Competitive salary and bonus
- Hybrid office (2 days a week in our London office)
- Private Health Insurance
- Life Assurance Scheme with death in service benefit of 4x salary
- Income Protection Scheme for long term illness
- Ride to Work Scheme
- Payroll Giving Scheme
- Season Ticket Loan to spread cost of travel over 12 months
- Eye Test every 2 years

How to prepare for a job interview at Ohme
✨Brush Up on Your Coding Skills
For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.
✨Know Your Tools and Frameworks
Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
