B2B Account Manager in Loughborough

B2B Account Manager in Loughborough

Loughborough Full-Time On-site
Ohh Deer | Playful Paper Goods | B Corp™

We’re looking for a B2B Account Manager to look after the wholesale customers we already have. Most of our sales effort goes into finding new stockists, and in the meantime, good accounts quietly drift away. Your job is to stop that: spot accounts that have gone quiet, get them ordering again, and keep our best customers coming back season after season. We need someone who likes picking up the phone, is organised enough to work a list every week, and can read a customer’s ordering history and know what to offer them next. You’ll report to our B2B Sales Manager and be measured on accounts kept and won back, not on new business.

Salary £30,000 to £33,000 depending on experience. Office-based in Loughborough town centre, with flexible start and finish times around core hours of 11am to 3pm. Private healthcare, company profit share, 20 days holiday plus bank holidays, rising with service.

Job Description

Job Title:

B2B Account Manager

Department:

Commercial Operations

Reporting to:

B2B Sales Manager

Working Hours:

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work for trade shows. Core hours are 11 am–3 pm, with flexible start and finish times (e.g., 7 am–3 pm or 9 am–5 pm).

Location:

Office-based, Loughborough Town Centre, LE11.

Salary:

£30,000 to £33,000 depending on experience

Job Purpose:

The B2B Account Manager keeps Ohh Deer’s existing wholesale customers ordering. You own two lists: accounts that have gone quiet against their usual pattern, and accounts that stopped ordering in the last year but were worth keeping. You work both lists regularly by phone, email and in-person where appropriate, with a reason to call and something new to show. You build a regular contact rhythm with our key accounts so that each one hears from us through the year, not just at range review. Building customer loyalty is important in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Win back lapsed accounts. Work through the list of customers who ordered last year but not this year, starting with the highest value. Find out why they stopped, fix what we can, and get them ordering again with a tailored offer of new designs that suit their shop.
  • Catch accounts before they go quiet. Each week, review the list of live accounts that have gone 60 days or more without an order against their own usual pattern. Call them before they drift, with a reason and something new to look at.
  • Build an ordering rhythm with key accounts. For our larger stockists, keep a simple contact calendar through the year: new launch first looks, seasonal check-ins, samples of the designs we think are theirs, and a short review where we bring their sales numbers to them. The aim is an account that orders in several months of the year, not one big order and silence.
  • Keep the range fresh for every customer you speak to. Know what’s new, what’s selling and what’s coming, so every call includes something the customer hasn’t seen. Never re-offer last year’s range.
  • Upsell and cross-sell. Grow the value of each order by introducing product types and ranges the customer doesn’t yet stock, where it suits their shoppers.
  • Resolve problems quickly. When a customer has an issue with service, delivery or quality, own it, work with the warehouse and customer service teams to fix it, and close the loop with the customer.
  • Keep the lists and the records clean. Log every contact and its outcome in our systems so the whole sales team can see where each account stands, and nothing falls through the gaps.
  • Report weekly. Report to the B2B Sales Manager on accounts contacted, accounts reactivated, accounts lost, and the spend they represent, in a simple format the wider team can follow.
  • Support the sales team. Help with trade shows, customer newsletters and team cover as needed, and feed back what customers are telling you so it shapes what we make and how we sell.
  • Take on other tasks as reasonably required to meet the needs of a small business.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential

  • Experience in a sales, account management or customer-facing role, by phone and email
  • Comfortable making outbound calls to customers every day, including ones who have stopped buying from us
  • Able to read a customer’s order history and work out what to offer them next
  • Confident with Google Sheets or Excel: filtering lists, keeping records, reading a simple report
  • Clear, friendly written and spoken communication

Desirable

  • Experience in wholesale or B2B sales, ideally in cards, gifts, stationery or a related consumer product
  • Experience winning back lapsed or dormant customers
  • Experience with Shopify, an order management system or a CRM
  • Experience working in a small business

Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

Essential

  • Persistent and resilient: comfortable with calls that don’t land first time
  • Organised and self-directed: able to work a list every week without being chased
  • Good listener who can spot the real reason a customer has gone quiet
  • Works well with colleagues in sales, warehouse and customer service
  • Flexible and able to adapt to the needs of a small business

Additional Information

We offer...

  • An excellent staff discount scheme and free greeting cards.
  • Private Healthcare once probation has been achieved.
  • A shared company-wide profit scheme once you have successfully passed your probation.
  • Flexible working. We have core working hours (11am-3pm) & you can be flexible on either side of this.
  • A company pension.
  • A relaxed, dog-friendly, working environment with free tea and coffee.
  • Occasional social gatherings.
  • 20 days annual leave (plus recognised bank holidays) which builds with longevity.
