About OHEAP Fire and Security

OHEAP Fire and Security is a third-generation, family-run business that has protected people, property and assets since 1958. From our Derby head office we deliver fire protection, security systems, and workwear to businesses nationwide, with more than 40,000 sites protected.

Our work is backed by BAFE, NSI Gold, FIA, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Cyber Essentials accreditations. Alongside our service business we run a growing group of ecommerce sites selling fire safety and PPE products to trade, business and consumer customers, including Fire Protection Shop, Fire Detection Shop, Trade Fire and Online Safety Supplies.

Digital marketing drives a large share of that growth, and this role sits at the centre of it.

The role

You will run paid search and organic search activity day to day, managing Google Ads budgets of £30,000 to £60,000 per month across Search and Shopping campaigns. The job is hands-on: you will build and optimise campaigns, research keywords, write content, and work through technical SEO fixes yourself.

You will report to the Digital Marketing Manager and work alongside colleagues that cover email, social media, PR and web development. The role suits someone who is comfortable being accountable for spend and results, and who wants to split their time between paid and organic rather than specialise in one.

Key responsibilities

Paid advertising

  • Build, manage and optimise Google Ads Search and Shopping campaigns across our service and ecommerce sites
  • Manage Google Merchant Center product feeds, fixing disapprovals and improving titles, attributes and feed quality
  • Run keyword, search term and negative keyword reviews to cut wasted spend
  • Write and test ad copy, assets and landing page variations
  • Set and adjust bidding strategies against ROAS, CPA and lead targets
  • Check conversion tracking is accurate across Google Ads and GA4

Budget management

  • Own monthly budgets of £30,000 to £60,000, pacing spend daily and weekly
  • Reallocate budget between campaigns, product categories and sites based on performance
  • Forecast spend and return, and flag risks or opportunities early

SEO

  • Carry out keyword research to find and prioritise opportunities for service, category and product pages
  • Work through technical SEO issues such as crawl errors, indexation, redirects, canonicals, site speed and structured data, liaising with developers where needed
  • Optimise on-page elements including titles, meta descriptions, headings and internal links
  • Monitor rankings, organic traffic and Search Console data, and act on what changes

Content

  • Write and optimise SEO content: service pages, category and product copy, guides and blog articles
  • Turn keyword research into content briefs and a prioritised content plan
  • Keep content accurate against current fire safety and security standards, working with our in-house technical specialists

Reporting

  • Produce weekly and monthly performance reports covering paid and organic results
  • Explain what happened, why, and what you will do next, in plain language for non-marketing colleagues

Skills and experience

  • Hands-on experience managing Google Ads campaigns, ideally a mix of Shopping and Search
  • Experience managing paid media budgets of a similar size (£30,000 to £60,000 per month) and being accountable for the return
  • Proven keyword research skills for both paid and organic search
  • Content writing experience, with examples of SEO content you have written and the results it achieved
  • Experience identifying and working through technical SEO issues
  • Confident with GA4, Google Search Console and Google Ads reporting
  • Strong numeracy and Excel or Google Sheets skills
  • Clear written and spoken English, with close attention to detail
  • Familiarity with SEO tools such as Semrush, Ahrefs or Screaming Frog
  • Able to work from our Derby office five days a week, 8am to 5pm
  • Google Merchant Center and product feed management experience
  • Ecommerce experience, particularly across multiple sites or large product catalogues
  • Experience with Microsoft Advertising, Meta Ads or marketplace advertising
  • Experience marketing B2B services or lead generation campaigns
  • Knowledge of the fire safety, security or health and safety sectors
  • A degree or professional qualification in marketing, or equivalent experience

What we offer

  • Real ownership: significant budgets and direct responsibility for results from day one
  • Breadth: paid and organic search across a B2B service business and several ecommerce brands
  • Training and development, with genuine career progression
  • A supportive, family-run working environment at our Derby head office
