The Team at OHanlon & Farrell Contracts Ltd have promoted the company as one of Northern Irelands long established Building Contractors with almost 40 years of experience across the construction industry, including the Industrial, Commercial and Domestic Construction sectors, throughout Ireland and UK. Due to continued growth we are recruiting for an experienced, enthusiastic Quantity Surveyor for a permanent position based in our Newry Head Office; regular site visits will be required within the Dundalk and North County Dublin area.

You will, in conjunction with the Senior Quantity Surveyor take ownership of & be responsible for the following key items:

  • Measure, price, negotiate and agree budgets and costs for variations.
  • Attend meetings.
  • Compile and issue invitations to tender, analyse subcontractor quotations.
  • Compile subcontract orders for approval.
  • Visit site to measure and value works completed.
  • Assess subcontractor payment entitlement and process payments.
  • Carry out reconciliation of cost and value to date.
  • Work closely with Operational and Finance staff to support the smooth running of projects.
  • Take off measurements for tender estimating and pricing.
  • Estimating and pricing tenders to deadlines.
  • Liaise with customers and project managers.
  • Other commercial matters as required.
  • Be able to work well both in a team and individually.

Requirements:

  • Hold a relevant degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Possess good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, detail orientated and very organised.
  • Have good IT skills (including proficiency in using Microsoft Excel and Word).
  • Hold a full driving licence.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working for a main contractor on new build domestic and apartment build projects.
