Your New Team & Role: The Team at OHanlon & Farrell Contracts Ltd have promoted the company to one of Northern Irelands long established Electrical Contractors with over 40 years of valuable experience within numerous sectors, including the Industrial, Commercial and Domestic Construction sectors, throughout Ireland & UK. Due to growth OHanlon & Farrell are now looking for an experienced ELECTRICAL COMMERCIAL BUYER to join their team on a permanent basis, with a keen focus on expanding the companys supply chain. With the obvious dynamics of the position, this role offers an attractive remuneration package. You will play a key role within the organization with potential career progression opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively maintain and develop a strong supply chain network.
  • Strategically build long-term relationships with new and existing suppliers & subcontractors.
  • Day-to-day management of the supply chain ensuring standards are maintained, ensuring any queries/issues are resolved to secure the company achieves optimum cost, quality & deliverability.
  • Work hand in hand with Estimating & Contract Teams to achieve profitable & high-quality projects (against detailed budget and target GP margins).
  • Assist Contracts team on bridging any gaps between Budget (tender) and Contract Performance, on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage the maintenance of supply chain information/discounts in an effective database.
  • Source materials/services & negotiate best terms with suppliers & Subcontractors.
  • Investigating Materials / Drawing issues to ensure correct materials purchased to achieve required/current Project standards.
  • Raise High level Material & Service Purchases Orders on Sage Construction.
  • Where required expedite goods and materials to meet Operational requirements.
  • Promote efficient and professional impression of the business externally.
  • Maintain up to date records of purchases.
  • Cascade all new projects effectively to our supply chain partners.
  • Manage suppliers/subcontractor pre qualifications & complete company Due Diligence (new suppliers).
  • When required, assist Estimating to receive quotations on time.
  • Develop and implement robust processes and controls to increase efficiency and improve performance, including liaise with site to establish best buying practices.

What you'll Need (Experience):

  • A minimum of 5 years experience as Buyer (or similar role) within Electrical Contractor Industry.
  • Strong experience and working knowledge of Electrical material and components required and rates.
  • A good level of secondary education demonstrating high levels of literacy and numeracy.
  • Have a knowledge of electrical installations.
  • Clear experience of establishing and developing effective supply chain relationships.
  • Proven record of delivering on-time quality products within budget and with minimal supervision.
  • Self-motivated and results orientated.
