The Opportunity:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Trusts Lawyer to join a highly regarded Private Client team handling complex trust and wealth planning matters. This role offers the opportunity to become a key adviser to high-net-worth individuals, trustees and families, advising across a broad range of trust creation, administration and succession planning matters. The successful candidate will enjoy genuine autonomy whilst working alongside experienced Private Client specialists within a collaborative and supportive environment. Applications are welcomed from experienced Senior Associates, Legal Directors and ambitious Trusts practitioners seeking a genuine pathway towards Partnership.

The Role:

As a Senior Trusts Lawyer, you will:

  • Advise individuals, trustees and families on the creation, administration and restructuring of trusts.
  • Provide strategic succession planning and wealth preservation advice.
  • Advise on inheritance tax and capital gains tax implications affecting trusts and estates.
  • Assist with complex estate planning for high-net-worth individuals and business owners.
  • Advise trustees on their legal duties, powers and ongoing administration.
  • Draft trust documentation and associated legal instruments.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the Private Client, Corporate and Property teams to deliver joined-up advice.
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients and professional introducers.
  • Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the continued development of the department.
  • Support networking, business development and profile-raising initiatives.

Candidate Requirements:

To be considered for this opportunity, you will ideally have:

  • Significant experience advising on Trusts and complex Private Client matters.
  • Strong technical knowledge of trust law, estate planning and wealth preservation.
  • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals, trustees and family businesses.
  • Excellent drafting and analytical skills.
  • Commercial awareness combined with exceptional client care.
  • The ability to manage complex matters independently.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • An interest in mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to departmental growth.
  • STEP qualification or progress towards STEP would be highly advantageous.
  • Ambition to progress towards Partnership.
