A well-established, family-owned organisation operating within the construction and industrial services sector is seeking an experienced Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager to join a major infrastructure project. This is an excellent opportunity to take a lead role in promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation.

Reporting to the Site Manager, with additional oversight from the SHEQ Director, you will be responsible for driving positive safety behaviours, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the safe delivery of a large-scale project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise site management on current health and safety legislation, regulations and best practice.
  • Carry out regular site inspections and provide recommendations to improve safe working practices.
  • Lead residual risk assessments before work commences in designated areas.
  • Review and approve risk assessments and method statements.
  • Support the preparation and maintenance of the Site Health & Safety File.
  • Ensure company policies, procedures and legal requirements are followed across site.
  • Maintain and update the Construction Phase Plan in line with CDM Regulations.
  • Identify and address breaches of health and safety legislation, ensuring statutory notices and records are maintained.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Deliver site inductions and support the safe onboarding of employees and contractors.
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings as required.
  • Complete, review and monitor COSHH assessments.
  • Assist with fire safety planning, emergency procedures and welfare arrangements.
  • Source and provide training materials to support ongoing health and safety awareness.
  • Promote a positive safety culture by leading through example.
  • Maintain professional competence through continuous development.

Requirements:

  • Good working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate (essential).
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate (preferred).
  • Previous experience in a similar SHE role within construction, demolition, industrial decommissioning or a comparable environment.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience carrying out risk assessments and safety inspections.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a project team.

Salary: 50-55k

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 7:30am - 6:00pm.
  • Friday: 7:30am - 12:00pm.
