Health and Safety is the top priority for our business. The primary purpose of this role is to maintain health and safety compliance in line with relevant legislation and ensure a safe working environment across all areas of the organisation. This role will take responsibility for health and safety across the business, working with teams and committees to uphold standards and drive continuous improvement. You will act as a subject matter expert, collaborating across the organisation to embed a proactive safety culture.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience Required:
- NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent)
- Awareness of relevant health and safety legislation
- Experience managing a team
- Experience implementing safety culture change initiatives
- Extensive knowledge and experience in conducting risk assessments
- Working knowledge of ISO 45001 management systems
- Experience in developing policies and procedures
- Confident presenting to groups at all levels
- Passion for promoting and challenging perceptions of health and safety
- Commitment to continuous personal development
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage external audits of health and safety management systems
- Oversee emergency preparedness and response procedures
- Record, analyse, and report accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify trends and improvements
- Facilitate regular health and safety meetings and workforce consultation
- Ensure risk assessments are completed and prioritised across the organisation
- Provide regular updates and feedback to senior management
- Coordinate new health and safety initiatives and projects
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain accreditation to ISO 45001 with continuous improvement year on year
- Ensure robust processes for investigating incidents, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions
- Clearly define roles and responsibilities within the health and safety team to maximise effectiveness
