We are currently recruiting for an experienced Head of Health & Safety to join a well-established organisation operating within the transport and infrastructure sector. This is a senior leadership opportunity responsible for overseeing Health, Safety, Environmental, Security and Quality management across a major operational contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting operational teams within a complex 24/7 working environment.

The Role

  • Lead and develop the organisations Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) strategy
  • Ensure compliance with UK health & safety legislation and industry best practice
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits and workplace inspections
  • Lead investigations into incidents, accidents and near misses
  • Provide expert HSE advice to senior management and operational teams
  • Manage security, business continuity and emergency planning frameworks
  • Oversee CCTV operations and security procedures
  • Manage the ISO 9001 Quality Management System
  • Monitor HSE performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Deliver training, guidance and engagement programmes to staff

Requirements

Essential:

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
  • IOSH Membership (Certified or above)
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a senior Health & Safety role
  • Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation
  • Experience conducting audits, investigations and risk assessments
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence

Desirable:

  • Chartered IOSH Membership
  • Environmental or Security Management qualifications
  • Experience within transport, infrastructure or operational environments
