We are currently recruiting for an experienced Head of Health & Safety to join a well-established organisation operating within the transport and infrastructure sector. This is a senior leadership opportunity responsible for overseeing Health, Safety, Environmental, Security and Quality management across a major operational contract. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance and supporting operational teams within a complex 24/7 working environment.
The Role
- Lead and develop the organisations Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) strategy
- Ensure compliance with UK health & safety legislation and industry best practice
- Conduct risk assessments, audits and workplace inspections
- Lead investigations into incidents, accidents and near misses
- Provide expert HSE advice to senior management and operational teams
- Manage security, business continuity and emergency planning frameworks
- Oversee CCTV operations and security procedures
- Manage the ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- Monitor HSE performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives
- Deliver training, guidance and engagement programmes to staff
Requirements
Essential:
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
- IOSH Membership (Certified or above)
- Minimum 5 years experience in a senior Health & Safety role
- Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislation
- Experience conducting audits, investigations and risk assessments
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
- Chartered IOSH Membership
- Environmental or Security Management qualifications
- Experience within transport, infrastructure or operational environments
