About the Role
SHEQ Advisor
We are recruiting for a Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) Advisor to join a leading infrastructure and civil engineering contractor.
In this role, you will provide proactive safety, health and wellbeing support across a major highways infrastructure project, helping to ensure safe, compliant and efficient site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive SHW leadership across a major infrastructure project, ensuring safe, healthy and compliant site operations.
- Act as the project's SHW lead, advising and supporting operational teams while driving consistent safety standards.
- Deliver site inductions, daily SHW engagement activities, inspections and behavioural safety observations.
- Lead incident investigations, complete root cause analysis and ensure lessons learned are effectively communicated.
- Monitor SHW performance, maintain reporting dashboards and ensure accurate compliance reporting.
- Support internal audits, assurance reviews and SHW communication initiatives across the project.

Experience & Qualifications
You should have
- Experience in a Safety, Health and Wellbeing role within civil engineering, highways, rail or other major infrastructure environments.
- Experience supporting or managing SHW across complex or multi-site projects.
- Strong understanding of SHW challenges associated with large infrastructure projects.
- Experience conducting incident investigations, audits and driving compliance improvements.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 management systems.
- Experience analysing SHW performance data and producing reports.
- An established network within client and contractor SHW communities (desirable).
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum).
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (desirable).
- IOSH membership or working towards Chartered status.
- Evidence of continued professional development.
- Safety, Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS).
- Mental Health First Aid qualification (preferred).
- Additional environmental, quality or wellbeing qualifications (desirable).
