An established engineering and technical services organisation is seeking an experienced QSEC Manager to develop, implement and maintain its Quality, Safety, Environmental and Compliance management systems. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role is responsible for ensuring compliance with ISO standards, UK legislation and industry best practice, while promoting a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across the business. The successful candidate will also provide leadership to the Compliance function and support wider corporate governance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Management
- Develop and maintain the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Lead internal audits and coordinate external certification audits.
- Ensure effective document control and procedural compliance.
- Monitor quality KPIs and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Investigate non-conformances and carry out root cause analysis.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across operational teams.
- Maintain structured document review and approval processes.
- Provide guidance on procedural documentation standards.
- Health & Safety Management
- Develop and maintain the ISO 45001 Health & Safety Management System.
- Ensure compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and associated legislation.
- Lead risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, implementing corrective actions.
- Deliver health and safety training and toolbox talks.
- Act as the competent health and safety advisor.
- Conduct regular site safety audits.
- Monitor contractor compliance with company safety standards.
- Produce management reports on safety performance.
- Support the development of RAMS and Construction Phase Plans where required.
- Manage the full incident reporting and investigation process.
- Carry out trend analysis and communicate lessons learned across the business.
- Environmental Management
- Develop and maintain the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (where applicable).
- Ensure compliance with environmental legislation.
- Monitor environmental performance including waste, emissions and resource usage.
- Promote sustainability and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
- Support the delivery of social value commitments.
- Compliance & Governance
- Maintain and develop the company's Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Ensure compliance with legal, contractual and industry requirements.
- Keep company policies updated in line with legislative changes.
- Conduct compliance reviews and business risk assessments.
- Report compliance performance to senior leadership.
- Coordinate external regulatory audits.
- Support subcontractor compliance and supplier audits.
- Assist with industry accreditations, regulatory submissions and governance requirements.
- Support GDPR compliance and wider business governance activities.
- Training & Competency
- Oversee technical training programmes and competency frameworks.
- Ensure employees and contractors maintain required qualifications and certifications.
- Monitor completion of mandatory training.
- Support skills matrices and competency development.
- Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Promote a positive QSEC culture throughout the organisation.
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers and employees.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to reduce risk and improve operational performance.
- Prepare senior management reports on QSEC performance.
- Build strong relationships across operational and commercial teams.
