Peripatetic Occupational Health Technician

OH Medical is currently recruiting for a Peripatetic Occupational Health Technician to join a leading Occupational Health provider delivering workplace health and wellbeing services across a variety of industries.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Health Technician or healthcare professional looking to build a long-term career within Occupational Health. The position offers a varied combination of travel, independent working and hands-on health surveillance.
The successful candidate will be based around Yeovil, Crewkerne, Glastonbury, Dorchester, Sherborne or Shaftesbury. You will travel to client sites regionally, with occasional nationwide travel, driving and operating a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU).
The Role – Occupational Health Technician
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting health surveillance, including audiometry and spirometry
- Completing baseline health screening, including blood pressure, height, weight and urinalysis
- Accurately recording confidential information within Occupational Health records
- Gathering biometric data to support clinical decision‑making
- Supporting Occupational Health Nurses and Physicians
- Ensuring equipment is clean, serviceable and fit for purpose
- Supporting health promotion and workplace wellbeing activities
- Driving and operating a Mobile Medical Unit
- Travelling regularly and staying away from home during the working week
Occupational Health Technician Requirements
Applications are welcomed from candidates with experience as an:
- Occupational Health Technician
- Healthcare Assistant or Healthcare Support Worker
- Emergency Care Assistant
- Ambulance Assistant or Technician
- Emergency Care Technician
- Army or Military Medic
- Sports Science Graduate with experience taking baseline measurements
To be considered, you will also need:
- A full UK manual driving licence held for at least 12 months
- To be aged 21 or over for vehicle insurance purposes
- The ability to provide a valid driving licence share code
- Experience completing baseline health measurements
- Confidence travelling and regularly staying away from home
- Space to park an MMU safely at or near your home address
- Strong communication, time management and organisational skills
- An understanding of GDPR and confidential medical records
- The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
Training & Development
You will receive a structured three-week training and induction programme, followed by ongoing mentoring and support from an experienced Occupational Health team.
This is a fantastic opportunity to establish or progress your Occupational Health career while developing valuable health surveillance skills.
Travel & Accommodation
This is a travel-based position involving regular overnight stays. Candidates should be comfortable being away from home for approximately three out of four weeks each month, although you will return home on Fridays for the weekend.
To support your travel, you will receive:
- Diary visibility six weeks in advance
- Prompt reimbursement of subsistence expenses
- Access to a Premier Inn account for accommodation bookings
- A company fuel card
- A company vehicle once available
During the initial weeks of employment, you may need to use your own vehicle or a company-provided hire car until the new company vehicle becomes available.
Hours
This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, usually between 8.00am and 6.00pm. Some night shifts between 11.00pm and 6.00am will also be required.
