OH Medical is working with a well-established Occupational Health service to recruit an Occupational Health Advisor. This role plays a key part in delivering a comprehensive OH service, supporting employee wellbeing, fitness for work and the prevention of work-related ill health across a diverse workforce. This is an excellent opportunity to join an experienced in-house OH team within a supportive local authority environment, offering stability, structured working hours and a strong wellbeing focus.
Responsibilities
- Undertake pre-employment health assessments and basic functional assessments.
- Carry out fitness-for-work assessments including sight, hearing, driver checks and HAVS.
- Deliver statutory health surveillance in line with legislation and council policy.
- Provide advice on reasonable adjustments and workplace risk assessments.
- Produce clear, high-quality Occupational Health reports.
- Deliver initial counselling consultations and wellbeing support.
- Support health promotion initiatives aligned to national strategies.
- Deliver presentations and briefings on health-related topics.
- Contribute to the development of OH policies, procedures and best practice.
- Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records in line with GDPR and governance standards.
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration.
- Experience delivering Occupational Health assessments and health surveillance.
- Confident in producing management reports and advising on fitness for work.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary OH team.
- Full UK driving licence (car user allowance payable for business mileage).
- Ability to undertake the spoken aspects of the role confidently in English.
Salary & Benefits
- £37,280 rising to £40,777.
- £5,000 market rate supplement on top of salary.
