OH Medical is recruiting for an experienced Occupational Health Advisor to join the Occupational Health Team of an in‐house organisation based in London. This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Health professional seeking a varied role with a strong focus on recruitment and pre‐employment assessments, while also supporting wider occupational health and wellbeing services. The position offers a blend of office and home working, with the majority of time spent on‐site at the organisation's headquarters in central London.
The Role
As an Occupational Health Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting recruitment and onboarding activities, reviewing health declarations and ensuring candidates are assessed appropriately against occupational requirements. Working closely with Occupational Health Practice Nurses, recruitment teams, managers, and candidates, you will provide expert occupational health advice and support to facilitate informed decision‐making and safe workforce planning. Alongside recruitment activities, there may be opportunities to undertake case management, fitness‐for‐task medicals, health surveillance, and wellbeing initiatives depending on service demand. This is a well‐supported role with established peer review meetings, group clinical supervision and a collaborative occupational health team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review pre‐employment health questionnaires and medical declarations
- Support recruitment and onboarding processes through the provision of occupational health advice
- Deliver case management, health assessments, and health surveillance activities where required
- Undertake fitness‐for‐task assessments and provide evidence‐based recommendations regarding fitness for work
- Conduct safety‐critical medical assessments including hearing, vision, colour vision, blood pressure and lung function screening
- Provide advice on workplace adjustments and rehabilitation where appropriate
- Maintain professional standards of clinical governance, confidentiality and record keeping
Stakeholder Engagement
- Provide expert occupational health advice and guidance to managers, employees, recruitment teams and candidates
- Support sickness absence management and fitness‐for‐work decision‐making
- Attend health and safety meetings to advise managers on employee health and wellbeing matters
- Deliver health promotion and wellbeing support initiatives across the organisation
Professional Development & Collaboration
- Work collaboratively with Occupational Health Nurses and wider wellbeing teams
- Participate in peer review sessions and clinical supervision activities
- Represent the organisation at occupational health professional networks and forums
- Contribute to continuous improvement and service development initiatives
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health
- Current NMC registration
- Proven Occupational Health experience within a case management and assessment‐based role
- Experience undertaking pre‐employment assessments and fitness‐for‐work evaluations
- Strong understanding of occupational health legislation, health and safety requirements and clinical best practice
- Experience managing confidential medical information and providing evidence‐based recommendations
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable Experience
- Experience within policing, emergency services, transport or other safety‐critical environments
- Previous experience conducting safety‐critical medical assessments
- Experience supporting recruitment‐focused occupational health services
