A growing construction and property-focused organisation is seeking a Head of Sustainability to support its growth strategy and lead the development of a net carbon homes offering. The role will also shape and deliver a group-wide ESG strategy, defining a clear vision and roadmap to become a highly sustainable, net carbon organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape, deliver, and promote the group sustainability strategy, including policies, standards, and year-one baseline data
- Set appropriate sustainability and carbon reduction targets and monitor progress
- Secure senior leadership commitment to embedding sustainability into core decision-making
- Support the ESG committee in delivering the group ESG plan
- Act as an internal sustainability consultant, advising and supporting teams on group initiatives
- Coordinate group-wide data collection and internal reporting to support external disclosures
- Develop sustainability metrics, track delivery timelines, and report progress internally
- Lead internal and external communications on sustainability and social value
- Represent the business externally as a sustainability and social value spokesperson
- Develop engagement strategies to raise awareness of sustainability initiatives
- Build and strengthen relationships with NGOs, industry bodies, policymakers, local authorities, and partners
Skills & Experience
- Strong passion for sustainability, social value, construction, and community engagement
- Proven experience developing and implementing sustainability programmes
- Experience delivering social value strategies
- Excellent written, verbal, and influencing skills
- Confident engaging and presenting at senior and external stakeholder level
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence senior leaders
- Strong project management and delivery-focused approach
- Solid understanding of ESG, sustainability trends, and investor priorities
- Previous experience in a similar senior sustainability role
- Strong Microsoft Office capability
Qualifications
- Degree qualified (advantageous)
- Professional sustainability qualification such as MIEMA / CEnv (advantageous)
Other Requirements
- Full clean UK driving licence (essential)
- CSCS card or working towards one (desirable)
