Safety and Compliance Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Safety and Compliance Manager to join a leading life sciences organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, maintaining high standards of regulatory compliance, and promoting a positive safety culture across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements (e.g. HSE, Human Tissue Authority, Home Office, HMRC).

Act as the appointed Biological Safety Officer (BSO).

Develop and maintain safety frameworks, policies, SOPs, risk assessments, and training.

Conduct audits, inspections, and incident investigations, providing metrics on risk and culture.

Maintain compliance calendars, regulatory submissions, and risk registers.

Provide strategic advice to senior leadership and represent the organisation with regulators.

Proactively influence and promote a strong health and safety culture across all sites.
Candidate Profile:

Proven experience in health and safety compliance within a scientific or industrial setting (pharma/biotech preferred).

NEBOSH Diploma and Grad/Tech IOSH (or equivalent) (essential).

Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and industry best practice.

Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
