Overview
OH Medical is currently seeking an experienced Occupational Health Technician to join a leading Occupational Health Provider in a dynamic mobile role across Peterborough and the local area.
Responsibilities
- Delivering health screening including baseline measurements (height, weight, blood pressure and urinalysis)
- Conducting health surveillance (audiometry, spirometry, vision testing, fitness-for-work medicals)
- Carrying out drug & alcohol testing and ensuring strict adherence to chain of custody procedures
- Supporting with venepuncture and vaccinations (if appropriately trained)
- Promoting health and wellbeing initiatives to client employees
- Managing and maintaining all medical equipment, ensuring it is clean, calibrated and ready for use
- Overseeing vehicle and logistics management for mobile health surveillance units
- Completing all administration accurately, maintaining medical records and reports to a high standard
This role will involve regular travel and occasional overnight stays, offering variety and the chance to meet a wide range of people across different industries.
Required Skills & Background
- Previous experience in an Occupational Health setting (preferred, though not essential with the right transferable skills)
- A background in one of the following: Hospital Health Care Assistant, Sports Science Graduate, Fitness Instructor, Ambulance EMT, Military Medic, Offshore Medic, or Nursing
- Friendly and approachable manner with excellent communication skills
- Strong IT literacy and digital record-keeping skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider Occupational Health team
- Flexibility to travel, including overnight stays where required
- Full, clean UK driving licence (able to drive and park a 3.5 tonne mobile health unit at home)
- Commitment to professional development and maintaining confidentiality at all times
Hours
- 37.5 hours per week (core hours)
- Start and finish times may vary depending on client requirements, including some early or late shifts and occasional night work (paid at a higher rate).
- Overtime is typically made up of travel time and is paid additionally.
