Ogilvy’s Vision

Ogilvy UK has been creating iconic ideas that deliver impact at scale for clients ever since David Ogilvy founded the company in 1948. Ogilvy UK specialises in bringing together brand advertising, customer experience marketing, PR, influence and consulting, all fuelled by Behavioural Science. Our world-class award-winning creative campaigns deliver solutions for clients including Sainsbury’s, Argos, Mondelēz International, Unilever, TK Maxx and Pernod Ricard.

In 2023, Ogilvy UK celebrated their 75th anniversary and was the most awarded agency in Europe. Ogilvy is home to the largest influencer marketing practice globally, and hosts the world’s biggest festival of behavioural science and creativity, Nudgestock – now in its 12th year.

About This Role

Ogilvy Consulting is the strategy, innovation, and business growth arm of The Ogilvy Group. An enterprise-wide offer, we provide advisory services across Business Transformation, Marketing Transformation and Brand Transformation. We are a global network and bring agile and diverse teams of analysts, strategists, and consultants together at the intersection of brand, growth, innovation, and transformation. We also work closely with teams and businesses across Ogilvy including Advertising, Public Relations & Influence, Experience, and Health.

Within our Behavioural Science specialism, we research and apply the latest thinking in cognitive psychology, social psychology and behavioural economics – bringing together behavioural science and creativity to solve some of the world’s most interesting and important challenges with the world’s most influential organisations. We believe in the power of thinking counterintuitively, daring to be trivial, that the opposite of a good idea can be another good idea, and the many gospels preached by the founder of our Behavioural Science practice Rory Sutherland.

Whether tasked with improving the security of Europe’s busiest airports, changing how people interact with the most popular social media or leading sustainability projects across the globe, we create effective interventions, communications and experiences for private, public and third sector clients. We work across all sectors and categories including healthcare, technology, financial services, manufacturing, automotive, retail.

Bit About You

It’s an exciting time to be joining Ogilvy Consulting. We’re growing and we’re hiring Consulting Analysts. Our Consulting Analysts have one-to-three years of experience in consulting or client-side strategy roles and have earned relevant degrees. They bring unique blends of creative thinking, strategic depth, and analytical skills, but most of all, they have decided that while consulting is the path they want to pursue, they want to do it in a place that brings business and brand strategy together with creativity and executability.

As a Consulting Analyst with a Behavioural Science specialism, you will have a detailed knowledge of, and passion for, behavioural science. You will have strong credentials (academic and/or work experience) in cognitive psychology, social psychology and/or the behavioural sciences, combined with the proven ability to practically apply this knowledge to find innovative ways of solving problems.

Our Behavioural Science specialism will have strong exposure across all of Consulting’s key areas from Business Transformation, Brand Transformation, to Marketing Transformation – as well as all of the behavioural science led projects. As such, broader experience and interest in business, brand and marketing strategy is also beneficial.

Ogilvy Consulting is different from other consultancies. We are nestled in the heart of a world-leading creative agency and differentiate ourselves from traditional consultancies partly by bridging strategy and execution. We’re also organised differently, with a flat hierarchy designed to provide opportunities for big contributions by team members of all levels.

As a Successful Consulting Analyst (Behavioural Science), You Will:

  • Have a detailed and fluent knowledge of behavioural science and key concepts and theories.
  • Have an appreciation for business, brand and marketing strategy.
  • Be capable of interpreting research from a range of quantitative and qualitative sources and techniques (academic literature, ethnographic and complex data sets).
  • Be a confident and engaging presenter capable of translating academic insights into a broader business context.
  • Be capable of establishing sound client relationships and critically challenging if required.
  • Be a champion of creative ideas and creative approaches to research.

  • Research & insight development: Performing desktop research, developing academic literature reviews and analysing industry and competitor trends. Conducting competitor analyses that drive unique insights. Designing, conducting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative research (e.g. interviews, surveys, ethnographies, focus groups).
  • Project Delivery: Taking ownership of client deliverables and presentations with a strong visual clarity and strategic rigor. Developing and participating in client strategy and ideation workshops. Supporting in the development of business strategies and solutions. Inputting into the creative development of ideas as well as creative and production briefs. Supporting with all aspects of project management. Maintaining the Ogilvy Consulting standard of excellence in intelligence and imagination.
  • Business Development: Participating in growth conversations with existing and prospective clients. Supporting with new business proposals and pitches. Contributing to thought leadership and events (e.g. The Annual and Nudgestock).

Experience

An undergraduate degree is a minimum requirement and a Masters or beyond is certainly beneficial. Subjects may include (but are not limited to) psychology, biology, humanities/social sciences and economics. We’re most concerned with how you’ve used and applied what you’ve studied, rather than the specific discipline itself. 1-3 years of experience in a consultancy, client strategy position or equivalent strategic role in professional services.

Skills And Attributes

  • A detailed knowledge of behaviour change principles, heuristics and biases and fundamentals of psychology and behavioural economics.
  • An appreciation for business, brand and marketing strategy.
