Ogi is a leading Welsh telco with big ambitions. We’re a network builder and operator bringing full-fibre services to communities across South Wales. Our Ogi Pro brand provides everything from telephony to managed IT services, alongside our high-capacity wholesale network that spans the M4 corridor.
Backed by multimillion-pound private investment, we’re proud to be an employer of choice in Wales, creating hundreds of jobs across four offices. Join a purpose-driven team with a culture rooted in innovation that’s shaping Wales’s digital future!
As we scale, we’re introducing a new hands-on IT Architect role responsible for designing, developing, and integrating Ogi’s IT systems. This role will focus on balancing in-house and outsourced resources, creating an IT roadmap, optimising processes, and maximising the use of existing platforms and vendors.
About you…
We need someone who lives and breathes technology and is keen to help shape our IT stack. You’ll work across both Enterprise Architecture and Systems Integration while having a strong Data Architecture background.
In the role you’ll primarily focus on configuring and integrating Commercial Off The Shelf packages, focusing on configuration, customisation, and systems integration via standard APIs. You should also have expertise in IT security (ISO27001) and Business Process Re-engineering. While telecoms experience is a bonus, it’s not essential – many elements like CRM, finance, sales, and field service are transferable across industries.
You may not have experience in all areas above and we appreciate the ask is broad in this role. We have similar Player-Manager experience in other areas of the business so our priority is a solid, hands-on, IT System and Data Architect who is happy to roll up their sleeves and be involved in test, development, design or support depending on the ask. We want someone comfortable speaking to people at all levels both internally and with vendors.
You should have a broad technical understanding of IT solutions and technologies however Ogi relies heavily on Microsoft products, especially Dynamics365 (e.g. ClickDimensions, Customer Service, Field Service, Business Central), alongside Azure Cloud Services, Power Apps, and DataBricks. Experience with these is a plus, but we're open to candidates with the right attitude, quick learning ability, and the confidence to engage effectively with vendors.
Other tech/experience we’re looking for includes –
* IT Delivery in an Agile environment
* Providing IT Support services and implementation of a structured approach to support (e.g. ITIL)
* Working with a variety of API including JSON based
* IT Risk management and improving IT governance and Controls to mitigate risks. (e.g. COBIT)
* Any experience driving operational improvements in a telecoms environment
* The ability to create insights from data
It would be great if you had ITIL Foundation, TOGAF, COBIT or any of the Foundation Project Management Certifications (e.g./ Prince2 Foundation / PMQ / CAPM / CSM / CompTIA Project+ / PPM) – solid all-round commercial experience is just as good though!
What you’ll be doing…
This is a highly varied role where you'll be visible across the business, collaborating with vendors and outsourcing partners both onshore and offshore. While outsourcing has helped establish our systems quickly, we've become overly reliant on external partners. We're now further scaling the team and shifting to a hybrid model, balancing in-house development with outsourcing to manage peak demand, access specialist skills, or address areas lacking economies of scale.
You'll work closely with stakeholders across the business, including the Director of Product Engineering, to align IT needs with the product roadmap, and the Director of Engineering and Network Operations, as many OSS/BSS platforms are critical to network operations and customer-facing products.
Your role will involve ensuring that IT requirements are effectively met and communicated across teams so collaboration with the Business Transformation team is also key, as they analyse and prioritise business requirements for the IT team. Current projects you may be involved in include Customer Online Self-care, E-Commerce, Data Lake improvements, Inventory Management, One Touch Switching for B2B, and a range of customer and product-focused initiatives like automated compensation and new product introductions.
Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Work with the IT & Transformation team to develop an IT roadmap of large and small works
* Working closely with stakeholders to baseline current systems, understand future requirements, map existing system capabilities onto those or identify where new / replacement systems and integration points are required
* Develop an Enterprise Architecture and Systems roadmap
* Using a combination of in-house and outsourced resources continue to develop and enhance our existing platforms and where required integrate new platforms into our IT estate
* Documenting the enterprise architecture and data architecture
* Work closely with the IT & Transformation team to understand the current data model, manage changes to it and how to leverage analytics from it to enhance the business
* Work closely with Technology partners of existing systems to understand the art of the possible and how we might sweat existing investments
* Work closely with the team to identify new systems to meet business requirements that cannot be fulfilled from the existing IT estate
The role will hold significant accountability (and thus pressure) to inform key strategic decisions for the organisation as well as achieve or exceed budgeted results and demand ongoing efforts to better those over time. Continual growth and improvement lie at the heart of the company culture.
