The Role

Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of offshore cranes used for lifting, loading, and transferring equipment, supplies, and cargo on and off the Drillship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate offshore cranes to transfer equipment and materials between the drillship and supply vessels, rig decks, and storage areas.
  • Conduct daily crane inspections and pre-use checks in accordance with OEM guidelines, rig procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate lifting operations with deck crew, rigging personnel, banksmen, and logistics teams using radio communication and hand signals.
  • Monitor load charts, crane limitations, and dynamic offshore conditions to ensure lifts are performed within safe working parameters.
  • Execute critical lifts in line with approved lift plans, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
  • Assist in cargo handling, deck operations, backload preparation, and equipment stowage.
  • Report any malfunction or irregularities with crane systems and initiate corrective maintenance requests.
  • Maintain accurate records of crane hours, lifting logs, and maintenance schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies, permit-to-work systems, and company safety protocols.
  • Participate in drills, emergency response duties, and safety meetings as required.

What We’re Looking For

  • Stage 3 Offshore Crane Operator Certificate
  • BOSIET / FOET with CA-EBS
  • OGUK Medical (or equivalent)
  • HLO/HDA (preferred)
  • LOLER Awareness / Lifting Operations Competency (advantageous)
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience operating cranes offshore, with at least 2 years on 6th or 7th generation Drillships.
