The Oil and Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC) is a global, industry-led initiative launched at COP28 to accelerate the decarbonization of the oil and gas sector and support the goals of the Paris Agreement through collective action, transparency and shared learning. OGDC is currently managed by the secretariat of OGCI, a CEO-led organisation comprised of 12 of the largest companies worldwide to catalyse climate actions in the oil and gas industry and to accelerate the energy transition. OGDC brings together national and international oil and gas companies representing ~40% of oil and gas production with operations across more than 100 countries.
The Charter's ambitions include achieving net zero operational emissions by 2050, near zero methane emissions by 2030, and zero routine flaring by 2030, alongside strengthening measurement, reporting and verification (MRV), knowledge sharing, and capacity building across the sector. OGDC serves as a platform for collaboration, performance tracking and the dissemination of best practices to drive credible, practical and scalable decarbonization outcomes worldwide.
Since its inception, OGDC has delivered the Collaborate & Share program, providing practical tools and resources to enable knowledge sharing among signatories in partnership with OGCI and key stakeholders. Support options target the Charter's priority areas and include webinars, trainings, regional roundtables, and tailored decarbonisation planning projects.
The intern will be fully integrated into the OGDC & Industry Outreach practice team in the day-to-day delivery, supporting members of the team both in the coordination and delivery of its objectives.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities- Programme Delivery Support: Support the Programme Manager with the implementation of OGDC's multi-year activities, notably assisting with the delivery of Collaborate & Share activities, including best practices sharing, case study preparation, webinar organisation, roundtables/workshops/1-1 training deployments, establishment of peer-to-peer mentorships, connections to external stakeholders, fostering broad collaboration with the finance sector, enabling enhanced technical support to signatories, new signatory outreach, etc.
- Assist with stakeholder and partner engagement by supporting meeting preparation, follow-up, and relationship tracking.
- Help prepare analysis, summary of engagements, slides for use in pre-reads, agendas, meeting notes, and presentations to support OGDC leadership engagement with Signatories, the Signatories Committee, and CEO Champions.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Coordination Support: Support engagement with a broad range of stakeholders, including OGDC signatories, OGCI Strategy & Policy team, consultants, industry associations, technical experts, and partner organisations.
- Act as a coordination and information-sharing support point, helping ensure clear communication and alignment across stakeholders.
- Where relevant, conduct background research and desk-based analysis on relevant geopolitical, regulatory, and climate policy developments affecting the global energy sector.
- External Engagement & Communications Support: Support OGDC leadership’s participation in major industry, policy, and international forums by assisting with the preparation of talking points, briefing notes, presentations, and background materials.
- Work with the communications team to support the planning and logistics of external engagements, such as roundtables and stakeholder workshops, in-person meetings and bilateral engagements, panel discussions, conferences, and leadership events.
- Assist with drafting or compiling event summaries, follow-up notes, and internal updates.
We are looking for interns with the following competencies:

- Ability to quickly grasp and understand new topics, subjects and themes and clearly synthesise in written and oral form, including communicating and presenting to the team.
- Well organised, able to multitask and work collaboratively with a small and versatile team to pool needs and actions plan.
- Good balance between technical, management and policy/economic in low-carbon space are welcomed.
- Scientific mindset & rigour backed with strong analytical skills are welcomed.
- Research & data analytics competences and proficiency in use of Excel & model competencies are welcomed.
Previous Experience / Knowledge of:
- Experience in / knowledge of climate change is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Energy sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of climate institutions & the climate agenda is advantageous.
The ideal candidate will be undertaking a Bachelor or Master programme.
Main Interfaces:OGDC & Industry Outreach Programme Manager, OGDC & Industry Outreach analysts, other OGDC Secretariat, OGCI Strategy & Policy team, other interns, etc. OGDC signatories and limited engagement with OGCI Workstream member companies. External stakeholders (including but not limited to consultants, NGOs, intergovernmental organisations, financial institutions, philanthropies, industry bodies, academia, technology providers, etc).
Additional Information:Position is based in Central London, attendance rule is currently 3-days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Eligibility to live and work in the UK is essential.
