Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
OGCI is a CEO led organization bringing together 12 of the largest energy companies worldwide to catalyze climate action in the oil and gas industry and accelerate the energy transition. The organization is comprised of six practice areas, one of which is the Net Zero Operations Practice, responsible for addressing emissions reductions from Scope 1 and 2 activities for both the OGCI and the Oil & Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC). OGDC is a global, industry led initiative launched at COP28 to accelerate the decarbonization of the oil and gas sector and support the goals of the Paris Agreement through collective action, transparency and shared learning. The Net Zero Operations Practice manages the delivery of the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative's Scope 1 and 2 emissions reduction activities (methane emissions reduction and energy efficiency initiatives) and the reporting and transparency efforts of both the OGCI and OGDC.
The Net Zero Operations intern will work closely with the team on the day-to-day delivery across different workstreams, depending on the needs, to deliver collective goals of the OGCI and OGDC. Examples of potential tasks include:
- Support with emissions data analysis efforts: The intern will work with the wider team to analyse member companies GHG emissions data and decarbonization efforts, and conduct benchmarking and comparative analysis to support OGCI and OGDC ambitions.
- Research public domain information on trends and company efforts.
- Support the preparation and delivery of OGCI's flagship monitoriCH4 technology pilot and deployment efforts by managing meeting coordination, preparing engagement materials, and maintaining data tracking processes.
- Prepare material and presentations to support the NZO practice's participation at events and presentations to executive leaders.
We are looking for interns with the following competencies:
- Ability to quickly grasp and understand new topics, subjects and themes.
- Ability to summarize and prepare executive level reports.
- Ability to work in a small and versatile team.
- Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with the team.
- Scientific mindset & data analysis competences.
- Proficiency in use of Excel & model competencies are welcomed.
- Excellent communication skills in written and oral form.
Previous experience / knowledge of:
- Experience in / knowledge of climate change is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Energy sector is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Knowledge of climate institutions & the climate agenda is advantageous.
The ideal candidate will be undertaking a Bachelor or Master programme.
Position is based in Central London, attendance rule is currently 3-days a week in the office (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Eligibility to live and work in the UK is essential.
