Role Description
This is a full‑time, on‑site HGV Class 2 (Category C) Lorry Driver role based in Ramsgate. The driver will be responsible for safely transporting timber frame components and related materials to construction sites and client locations, ensuring timely and secure delivery. Day‑to‑day duties include vehicle checks, load securing, route planning, and accurate completion of delivery and collection documentation. The role involves coordinating with the logistics and site teams, following company procedures, and representing OFP professionally with clients and site personnel. The driver will also assist with unloading where required, comply with road safety and company health and safety standards, and report any vehicle or delivery issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Valid HGV Class 2 (Category C) license and strong truck driving experience, including operating large goods vehicles safely and efficiently.
- Experience with unloading practices, including safe handling of construction materials and use of appropriate unloading equipment where applicable.
- Good knowledge of DOT regulations and general road transport compliance, including hours of service, vehicle inspections, and record‑keeping.
- Competence in truck inspection and basic vehicle maintenance checks to ensure roadworthiness before and after journeys.
- Clean or low‑points driving record, with strong awareness of road safety and health and safety practices on and off site.
- Ability to read delivery notes, site instructions, and route information, and to keep accurate logs and paperwork.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with clients, site teams, and colleagues.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexibly to meet delivery schedules; experience in construction or building materials transport is an advantage.
