Successful candidates may be based in any of our office locations – Cardiff, Glasgow, or London, we are especially welcoming applications from people based in the Cardiff and Glasgow.

Hybrid working – on average, currently one day per week in the office, or approximately 20% of the month.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Ofgem as Stakeholder Engagement Manager (internally the role will be known as Sponsorship Engagement Manager) within our Delivery and Schemes Directorate. You’ll play a vital role in managing relationships with our scheme sponsors, including government departments such as DESNZ, the Scottish Government and Northern Ireland’s Department for the Economy. This is a high-impact role where your ability to build partnerships, communicate effectively and influence stakeholders will be key to delivering environmental and social schemes that support vulnerable consumers and drive decarbonisation.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring that our sponsorship arrangements are well-managed, strategically aligned and delivering value. You’ll coordinate partnership agreements and oversee governance processes, working closely with legal, policy, and delivery teams to ensure our scheme sponsors are supported and informed.

You’ll lead on planning and delivering high-impact engagements with government departments, including preparing briefings, coordinating board papers and ensuring excellent record-keeping. Your ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes and communicate with clarity will be essential.

In addition, you’ll contribute to financial oversight by liaising with scheme sponsors on budgets and reporting, and support risk management by identifying and escalating issues that could affect delivery. You’ll also play a key role in improving internal systems and processes, helping the team work more efficiently and effectively.

Person specification

ESSENTIAL:

  • Experience of working in stakeholder management/engagement (LEAD).
  • Demonstrable self-starter with proven ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
  • Excellent communications skills and confidence in influencing others.
  • Proven analytical skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Understanding of risk and issue management.

DESIRABLE:

  • Experience of developing and/or implementing a stakeholder engagement strategy
  • Experience of continuous improvement or efficiency projects
